I know. It goes against all that is good and manly, but I am going to help my fellow men out with a gentle guide to that most delicious, but mysterious of all mysteries, lingerie. Now don’t panic. This is not a guide for picking out your own- that is a whole new topic. I just think it is high time that we understand what we are looking at, buying and hopefully, helping our lasses out of when the time arises. I will stick to the most basic of basics so you are not overwhelmed.
The Lingerie on the Top
Of course we all know the word “bra” and the very thought of it, is enough to send some poor men’s hearts racing. But as much as that word can be exciting, it can also confound and bamboozle. Just wait until your wife says “honey, bring me my bra” and you will see what I mean. You can’t just reach into the drawer and grab out any bra. There are literally dozens of different styles – strapless, balconette, plunge, tee shirt, sleep, sports bras and on and on. If you are a man shopping for bras for your lady, here is what you need to know: don’t go alone. There are just too many lingerie variables to deal with.
And guess what? The bra is not the only piece of lingerie that a woman can put on her top! There are others. Here are a few of those:
Camisoles: usually silky, sheer tops with spaghetti straps. Some women wear these lingerie garments paired with blazers or suit jackets, for a sexy but still mostly respectable look. Some women like to sleep in these because they are comfortable and much cooler in the hotter months.
Bustier: ah, the bustier is like the camisole’s naughty cousin. Tighter and more brazen, the bustier is lingerie that is meant to accentuate the finest curves of a woman’s body.
Corsets: I hesitated in putting the corset here, because some lingerie corset styles are more than just something for the top. Most actually go to the waist or the hips. They are meant to be worn tight and have so many fastenings on them, that you might go mad in the process of unveiling your lady’s frame.
The Lingerie on the Bottom
Lingerie is more than just bras and such you know. Panties come in all kinds of styles as well. There are bikinis, boy shorts, tap shorts, g-strings and the thong, of course. There is lingerie made from silky, cottony soft and pure lace materials. And then there are the cutest, satin boxer shorts that can make many a man go completely insane.
Other Lingerie Stuff
Finally, there are the other bits of lingerie, the fancy stuff that usually gets top billing early in the relationship and then gets shoved to the back of the drawer as familiarity sets in. These lingerie things include nightgowns, teddies (the one piece deals that may or may not feature cut outs or peek a boo areas) body stockings, garters, nylons and my personal favorite, fishnet stockings.
Those are the basics. As for me, I think I need to lay down for a bit.

Corsets however are designed to sculpt the upper body towards an hour glass appearance. Corsets became popular in the 18th century when the hour glass shape was considered to be a thing of beauty. Corsets today are widely used to create a more flattering torso. They are also regarded as sensuous because of their attribution with control and the BDSM society.
