Risque Lingerie: It is Your Right as a Woman
Like most women, I have a drawer that is filled with various items. I have a drawer for my bras, another for my panties and then a third that is filled with the stuff that I sleep in. In that third drawer, there is a collection of casual stuff, things I would rather never be caught in. Then, there is another section of sexy, racy, lacy, risque lingerie. Do I wear it all of the time? No, I don’t but that is because I am a single woman and I am usually getting up early in the morning to wake up a small child. But, there are times when I take a frothy bubble bath, light a few candles and slip into my vampy stuff- just because I can. It is my right as a woman to dress sexy, even when there is no one else around.
That, is the benefit of risque lingerie- you can wear it if you are expecting company, when you wish your hubby would notice you more or when you are all alone. You can wear your prettiest bra under your most boring business suit. You can wear your laciest panties under your rattiest jeans. You can wear a naughty bustier under a perfectly chaste dress on a date with a guy you have deemed has potential. There are rules for risqué lingerie, but they are no longer valid. Just like you can wear white after Labor Day, you can wear your risqué lingerie any darn time that you want to.
And, before anyone get’s their feminist ire up, let me assure you that I am not saying you have to be anything that you are not. You know ladies; there are flirty girls who have no problems being everything for themselves. After all, a business man can be a little flirtatious and get away with it most of the time- so why can’t a woman? Look at me: I am flirtatious, madly in love with hockey, strong willed and independent. I am single but not desperately so. Would I go on a date if asked? I would, if I liked the guy. Period. There are a lot of things that I can do for myself and I can keep on doing them as long as I need to. You can be strong and sexy, feminine and feminist at the same time.
Finally, don’t let anyone tell you that risque lingerie is meant for only the young, the skinny and the involved. Don’t wait around until you are attached before you buy that little bit of risqué lingerie- if you want it, buy it and then wear it! Don’t think you have to stop wearing it because a certain birthday comes and goes- you are not retiring your jersey after all. Unless they are going to lift your nightgown to the rafters in a tear filled, emotion choked ceremony, it is your right as a woman to always dress as sexy as you want to in your favorite risque lingerie.
