Whether you are a woman looking to heat up your day or evening wear, or you are a man looking to do the same for your mate, it is important to know what you are looking for. The intimate apparel that you choose should be what you want to wear- not look at one time, sigh and then cram in the back of a drawer somewhere. Intimate apparel is not that difficult to find, if you keep a few things in mind.
Number One: Say it With Me Now
Say these words, ladies, gents, young and old: “Intimate Apparel”. Repeat those words three or four times, loud and proud. Now let’s think about what they mean- intimate is exactly that; these items are going to be worn closest to your skin, which we all hope is soft, silky and smooth. Think about how hard you work to keep your skin supple- and then you are going to just yank on whatever is in your lingerie drawer? Really? If this sounds like what you do on a daily basis: stop it! Think of your intimate apparel as your shield of armor if you will, protecting your soft and delicate skin from the thicker, scratchier and less comfortable clothing that you wear on a day to day basis.
Number Two: Intimate Apparel can be so Many Things
Okay, it’s really easy to fall into the old tee shirt and sloppy shorts habit when you are facing an empty bed or when you have been with your mate for a very long time. Don’t do that, either! Do you have to dress like a harem girl every night of your life? No, of course not, but you should not allow yourself to dress like you are going to go muck the stables either. Intimate apparel can be simple and soft, a lot more attractive and flattering than the tee and shorts for night to night wear or can be a little more fancy and fabulous for a frisky Friday night. (Don’t you just love alliteration?) You can wear your lovely intimate apparel under your stuffy business suit so that you can remember that you are a soft and wonderful woman when you are not out busting heads in the corporate world. (Okay, here is my own confession: although you may see me in tight jeans and a Detroit Red Wing jersey, especially during playoff season, you might be shocked to know that I am wearing a red bra and panty set beneath it. Sure, I will scream horrid things at YOUR goalie, but I might also be thinking how adorable his piercing blue eyes are as well.)
Number Three: Think of What Touches You Where
No matter what type of intimate apparel you are buying, no matter where you are buying it from and no matter what type of material that you are choosing, keep in mind that seams that are too thick or not properly formed can cause chafing and pain. For some women, lace is a problem which may lead to itching and rashes (I am one of those women.) so make sure that any lace is lined if this describes you at all.
Number Four: Think of What You Are Wearing it for
If you are sleeping or “sleeping” in your intimate apparel, then it does not matter as much, but if you are getting dressed and going out, think of the color and material choices that you are making. A leather bra is hot in the bedroom, but it is also HOT outside of the bedroom as in hot and sticky. Sweaty breasts are not happy breasts, ladies. A red bra is a fabulous thing to have, unless you are wearing your white business lady blouse.
