Women’s Lingerie: Designer Labels and More

Women often shop by the tag inside of their clothing. Of course, they are looking at the size and may also be looking at what the item is made of. But, for many women, that little tag may be even more important and for one reason: it holds the name of their favorite designer. Designer labels are important for some women, even for women’s lingerie. And, there are plenty of designers who have included lingerie in their line ups for a number of reasons.

Most people will look at the topic of women’s lingerie and designer labels from the women’s viewpoint. Why do women buy designer teddies and negligees? Why do they buy this designer over that one? How much more are they willing to spend on a piece of designer lingerie? For the answer to that less question, you might want to be sitting down because the actual answer might shock you completely. There are women who are willing to pay two hundred percent or more just because of the name it says on their bloomers!

But, what about the designers themselves? I mean, after all, if they are famous for one particular item and they are rolling in diamonds and driving Lamborghinis down to the airfield to hop in one of their private jets, why bother trying their hand at other things? Women’s lingerie is a chance to design an item that is so intimate, so close to a woman’s skin that its very existence must be perfect. There is no room for flaws or poor needle work on a corset. A bra is every bit as important as the blouse that will soon cover it up, and for many women, may be more important.

And think of this: women’s lingerie is a chance to dabble more on the wicked side, a little bit of erotic expressionism that allows the creative imp to come out and sit on the shoulder of a designer that is been in the lucrative harness for far too long. At his heart, he is an artiste after all and while he knows that it a gilded and diamond encrusted cage he sits in, he is not free all the same. The wispy bits of satin and lace are like the breeze of a perfect summer’s day, giving him just the smallest hint of the excitement he felt in the early days when no one knew his name and he could sit down and design whatever he dreamed up in his head.
